Held from the 16th-17th of June, the Kiel International Seapower Symposium 2022 returned as an in-person event. This year’s iteration was twofold: On day 1, hand-selected experts from the allied militaries, academia, and the policy-world gathered as Europe’s dedicated maritime security forum to argue about naval futures. On day 2, the focus was more immediate Baltic Sea security issues and Germany’s role.
The Kiel International Seapower Symposium 2021 addressed questions pertaining to NATO’s Allied Maritime Strategy. The key tenets of the current document, published in 2011, are in need a revisiting in light of recent geopolitical developments, the reemergence of great power competition, and an ever-changing world.
For the fifth year in a row, the network conference "Dreizack" for young scientists in the research field of Maritime Strategy and Security took place in early November 2021. With its proximity to the Naval Memorial and the submarine U 995, the Hotel Admiral Scheer repeatedly proved to be the perfect venue.
